INA one-way bearing for classic roller ski wheels
INA one-way bearing for classic roller ski wheels. This bearing means that the rear wheel only rolls forward, which provides a “nail grip” at all times. INA one-way bearings are manufactured by Schaeffler in Germany and have high quality and precise measurements. This is important because the rear wheel consists of several moving parts that work simultaneously. Heat occurs and elements such as salt, gravel, water etc. make the environment they must perform under demanding. FF Rollerskis chooses the market-leading Schauffler, to ensure that our wheels are safe and predictable at all times. Here, only the best is good enough.
The stop mechanism for classic roller ski wheels
The stop mechanism of classic roller ski wheels works so that the one-way bearing, or needle bearing, is a drum with fine wire bands inside. These react in contact with the axle that passes through the rear wheel when you push the wheel backwards. It is the counterforces which here, using rotational force, stop the wheel from rolling backwards. The threads are very sensitive. It is therefore important to have both good and tight ball bearings, precise dimensions on the axles and correct dimensions on the wheels.

Other things to watch out for:
dirt and particles are not desirable inside and therefore it is important to ensure that the surroundings are suitable if you are going to open the rear wheel yourself.
It is also important to use pressure when the bearings are to be fitted, not hammer blows which can damage the bearing and pose a risk in the long term.
You only need one-way bearings in the rear wheel on classic roller skis, but there are also some who like one-way bearings on the front wheel or on all four wheels. If, for example, there are a lot of steep slopes uphill, this solution can increase endurance and the correct use of technique.
