FF Active Skate: Maximum Stability and Precision for Your Training
When I started FF Skis, I refused to accept that “entry-level” should mean “lower quality.” Most budget skis use soft, cast aluminum that flexes in the wrong places. I wanted to bring the same 6082 aluminum profiles from Alumeco that we use in our Pro series to a wider audience. I developed the FF Active Skate to provide a rock-solid platform. We stripped away the damping to focus on a stiff, responsive fork that communicates exactly what is happening under your feet. It’s about honesty in every stride.
Perfect For
- Beginners who need a stable platform to master their skating technique.
- Active trainers looking for a durable, low-maintenance roller ski for daily sessions.
- Skiers who prefer a “direct” feel and stiff response during power transfer.
- Clubs and teams require high-quality equipment that can withstand heavy use.

Why These Are Different
While many competitors focus on flashy colors, we focused on geometry. The FF Active Skate features a lowered frame. By bringing your foot closer to the ground, we significantly reduce the risk of ankles rolling and increase your overall stability. This is combined with our RM2 wheels, which provide a rolling resistance that closely mimics the feel of real snow. Unlike our Classic models, which use V-Track technology for diagonal strides, our Skate models are optimized for the lateral push and long glide phases of the skate technique.
Key Technologies
- 6082 Aluminum from Alumeco: Built from 6082 aluminum profiles supplied by Alumeco, ensuring the frame never loses its shape or responsiveness.
- Lowered Center of Gravity: Our frame geometry is engineered to sit lower, providing a more stable and “planted” feel during high-speed descents.
- RM2 Rubber Wheels: These wheels provide the ideal medium level of resistance, ensuring your training sessions translate directly to winter performance.
- Precision CNC Machining: Every part is machined in Norway to ensure 100% straightness – a ski that doesn’t track straight is a ski you can’t trust.
- Brake Compatibility: These skis are fully compatible with our advanced braking systems. Learn more at our Brake Technology Hub.
Trust Signals
- Made in Norway: Manufactured and assembled in our own facilities to ensure the highest quality control.
- FIS Approved: Our equipment meets the International Ski Federation’s rigorous standards.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Active Skate have V-Track?
No, V-Track is our proprietary technology reserved strictly for Classic models to help with tracking during the kick phase. For skating, we prioritize a flat, stable profile for a better glide.
Is this ski too stiff for long trips?
While the Active series is stiffer than the Pro series, the high-quality rubber wheels and precise geometry still provide a comfortable ride. If you suffer from “vibration fatigue,” you might consider upgrading to our Pro or 360 Flow series.
What bindings fit these skis?
We provide Salomon Pro bindings as standard, but our frames are pre-drilled to accommodate all major binding systems including Rottefella and Turnamic.
