From Mexico to FF Rollerskis: Rollerskis for Change

Rollerskis for Change

How Rollerskiing can drive change and create opportunity : From Mexico to FF Rollerskis, Norway, and back:

#NoSnowNations + #FFskis

When we started FF Rollerskis, we had a simple belief: Everyone deserves good, functional equipment. And we wanted our rollerskis to reach the people who need it most. So these people and more could get the same sense of freedom. Life is the series of moments all of us are observing, escaping and create. Rollerskis has this almost magical power to activate confidence, joy and the belief in change. I have seen it many times.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Cross-country skiing has historically been dominated by a handful of nations with long traditions, deep pockets and  often even deeper snow… But the future of Cross- Country skiing…?

That future we envision belonging to the athletes and Teams                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    willing and able to dream bigger and bolder, shake the current state and have

That’s why meeting Allan Daniel Corona and Team Mexico felt inevitable.

*”Ever since I decided to go all in on XC skiing—year-round, I’ve financed every tool, accessory, and piece of equipment myself. And that’s fine. Reaching the Olympics doesn’t entitle anyone to sponsorships or handouts. Truth is, I feel better earning my own way. I’m not a pro athlete; I’m just a merit-driven, hard-working guy who refuses to wait up.

Truthfully xc skiing is a small world, and its market pretty defined. But then there’s a brand that gets it. In a country not exactly famous for bold entrepreneurship, a lovely couple is building a genuine startup, shaking up roller skiing with real innovation: Hendrick and Pernille from FF Skis, a family-run operation from south of Oslo, quietly making a name in cross-country by challenging the old guard with the best, most forward-thinking roller skis out there and looking to engage with non-ski nations.

We were made to connect. This isn’t just me and them… it’s us and them. Team Mexico and FF Rollerskis! 🇲🇽🇳🇴

Regina, my Olympic teammate, and I visited their factory and lab in Horten. Within minutes, we were sketching the future: roller skiing as the bridge for non-snow nations like Mexico to compete on the world stage.

They gifted us each a set of classic and skate roller skis for our training, being the first ever sponsored equipment I ever get!

And because they believe in growing the sport, they donated a full batch of new roller skis to Team Mexico for kids and teens. A small company with limited resources, yet the ones actually pushing boundaries and investing in the underdogs.

Two outsiders, one Mexican skier in Norway, one Norwegian brand defying the establishment building something new, together.

Gracias, amigos. Let’s get Mexico on roller skis.”*

— Allan Daniel Corona, Olympic cross-country skier, Team Mexico

Rollerskis for Change and #NoSnowNations

Allan’s words mean more to us than any industry award or tap on the back ever could.

Here’s what he didn’t mention: When Allan and Regina walked into our lab in Horten, they weren’t asking for handouts. They came with questions, ideas, and a vision for what roller skiing could mean for Mexico. Within minutes, we weren’t talking about sponsorship—we were talking about partnership.

The big brands will tell you the market isn’t there. That non-traditional ski nations don’t have the infrastructure, the interest, or the ROI. But here’s what we see: athletes who’ve financed their own Olympic dreams, kids in Mexico who’ve never seen snow but have the determination to compete, and a sport that’s only as strong as its ability to grow beyond its traditional borders.

This is why we exist. Not to dominate an established market, but to expand it. Not to sponsor champions, but to invest in the underdogs who’ll become the champions of the future. The important rolemodels that can shine a light on the opportunity that lies in Commitments, goal and Grit. To be a champion at heart, you dont need snow for that, You need people.

Allan called us outsiders, and he’s right. We’re a small family-run startup challenging brands with hundred-year legacies. But being an outsider means we get to write new rules. It means we can say yes when the industry says no. It means we can donate equipment to Mexican youth while others calculate ROI.

FF is not the biggest. We’re not the richest. But we’re the ones showing up

Team Mexico, we’re just getting started! 🇲🇽🇳🇴
