The world’s lightest junior skate ski, engineered by Henrik Lindhagen. We replaced heavy, cut-down adult frames with precision CNC-machined 7075 aluminum to give children immediate mastery, lower rolling resistance, and a center of gravity that makes learning safe and intuitive.

The Problem I Had to Solve

FF 360 Flow Skate

I was frustrated seeing enthusiastic young skiers struggle on “junior” rollerskis that were essentially just shortened, heavy adult models. It is impossible to develop correct technique when you are fighting the weight of the equipment. The swing weight was wrong, the frames were too stiff, and the road vibration was punishing for lighter legs. I knew that to build the champions of tomorrow, I had to build a ski specifically for their biomechanics—not just a smaller version of mine.

Why FF Active Junior Changes Everything

We do not compromise on materials just because the athlete is smaller. We apply our elite engineering to give juniors a true snow-feel on asphalt.

  • Ultralight 6068 Aluminum: I selected Hydal aluminum—the cleanest alloy on the market—for the frame. It provides a dampening effect that protects young joints from vibration while remaining incredibly light for easy handling.
  • Low Center of Gravity: I engineered the frame geometry to sit lower to the ground. This drastically increases stability and makes the ski easier to edge and stop, boosting a beginner’s confidence immediately.
  • Calibrated Rolling Resistance: We are the only producer in Norway with a proprietary rolling resistance meter. I personally guarantee that these wheels provide the resistance needed to mimic real snow, preventing the “runaway” feeling of fast plastic wheels.
  • Standard Compatibility: The forks accept standard 608 bearings and 100mm wheels, ensuring you aren’t locked into proprietary replacement parts.

“The FF skis provide a unique snow-like feel that translates perfectly to winter conditions. The durability is unmatched.” — Ulf Kleppe, Head Coach, Edmonton Nordic Ski Club (email, 2020)

FAQ FF Active Junior

Common questions about the FF Active Junior Skate, answered by the FF team.

What is the recommended age for this model?

I designed the Active Junior Skate specifically for children under the age of 12. The frame length and weight distribution are calibrated for this physical development stage. Older or larger juniors should transition to our FF Active or Pro models.

Do these come with bindings?

We deliver the FF Active Junior Skate with Salomon Pro bindings (NNN standard) pre-mounted. They are ready to use with all major NNN-compatible boots right out of the box.

Is this ski suitable for absolute beginners?

Absolutely. It is the best place to start. The lightweight frame and reduced height make it much easier to balance and maneuver than standard rentals, significantly reducing the learning curve.

How durable is the aluminum frame?

We use CNC-machined 6068 aviation-grade aluminum. It is significantly stronger than the cast alloy or composite frames often found on junior gear, ensuring the skis survive rough handling and years of training.

How do I maintain the wheels?

Maintenance is simple. Rinse the skis with fresh water after use, especially if the roads were wet or salty. Store them in a dry place. The sealed bearings are designed for longevity. If they are not wet dont use wather use a brush.
