V-Track Wheels – Henrik’s Personal Choice for Peak Performance
Table of Contents
Welcome to the heart of the FF Classic experience. I created the V-Track wheel. I was tired of rollerskis that felt like they had a life of their own. When you are on snow, your skis go straight. When I began rollerskiing, I found the flat wheels frustrating. They felt unrealistic and made me feel like I was wandering. These wheels are the result of my refusal to compromise. I aimed to keep the feel of the kick. I also wanted to guarantee the stability of the glide.
V-Track Wheel are compatible with most major rollerskis brands like: IDT, SWENOR. Swix, Marwe, Elpex and Fischer.
“People say ‘don’t reinvent the wheel.’ With FF, that’s exactly what happened.”
— Ulf Kleppe, Head Coach, Edmonton Nordic Ski Club

The Motivation Behind V-Track: Real Stability
I developed the V-Track technology to bridge the gap between asphalt and snow. The core problem with standard classic rollerskis is that a flat wheel lacks a directional guide during the kick phase. I spent years perfecting the V-groove profile you see on these wheels. This groove forces the wheel to center itself, providing the tracking stability of a cross-country ski in a groomed track. It removes that nervous “wandering” feel, allowing you to focus entirely on your technique and power.
“One of our clearest test moments came on a standard classic rollerski with flat wheels. Everything felt fine—until the right ski started searching sideways and crossed toward the left. That split-second instability is what causes panic corrections and falls. V-Track eliminates that drifting feeling.” Henrik Georg Lindhagen, CEO FF Rollerskis as.
V-Track Wheel with or without large rim
Most rollerskis are rigid. They have no suspension system.
This means the wheel must absorb the shock. Otherwise, vibrations would go straight into the skier’s ankles, knees, hips, and back.
Full Rubber V-Track Wheels (Small Rim) are designed for this reality. The higher rubber volume acts like internal suspension, smoothing rough asphalt and improving grip and tracking.
Our premium setups use Big Rim V-Track wheels with less rubber and a harder compound. This reduces deformation under load and helps prevent the “slipping” feeling on the rear wheel in tight turns. A harder compound also increases lifespan.
Big-rim wheels can be installed on many non-FF skis, but may require brand-specific spacers/axle kits—ask us and we’ll guide you.
Recommendation:
Suspension/damping in the ski → Big Rim (Harder compound)
No suspension → Full Rubber (Small Rim)

“I didn’t just want a wheel that rolled; I wanted a wheel that behaved like a ski. The V-Track is my answer to every skier who has ever felt unstable on a classic rollerski.” — Henrik Lindhagen

V-Track Wheels have Shaved Edges for Real Cornering Control
Skate wheels often feel easier in tight turns because their profile is more “pointed” and responsive.
That’s why we build shaved edges into our V-Track wheels. The result is simple: Your classic rollerskis carve through sharp turns with more control. They have less rear-wheel slip and a calmer feel at speed. Flat wheels, in contrast, can feel vague and unstable. You get that ski-track feeling on asphalt. At the same time, the shaved edges reduce the “grab” in corners, so turning stays smooth and easy.
How to Choose the Right V-Track Wheels
Choosing the right wheel is about matching your training goals and your local terrain. We offer our V-Track wheels in different rolling resistances to guarantee you get the exact workout you need:
- Resistance 1 (Fast): Best for racing or simulating icy, fast snow conditions.
- Resistance 2 (Standard): My personal recommendation for 90% of skiers. It perfectly mimics the friction of normal winter snow.
- Resistance 3 (Heavy): For those looking to build specific strength. It feels like skiing in fresh, wet snow.
If you are looking for even more comfort, remember that our Pro and 360 models combine this V-Track shape. They use advanced vulcanized rubber to remove road buzz.

Why FF Quality Matters
At FF, I insist that nothing we produce should be “average.” Our V-Track wheels are not just pieces of rubber; they are precision-engineered components. We use high-grade compounds that guarantee even wear and a long lifespan, even on abrasive asphalt. The Pro-series wheels have special dampening features. They are made to reduce joint fatigue. I started this project after noticing how much “road buzz” affected my recovery.
Safety is also paramount. If you are training in hilly terrain, think about how our wheels offer excellent integration. They deliver the best stopping power in the industry at our Brake Technology Hub.

What is a V-Track wheel?
A V-Track wheel is a rollerski wheel with a V-shaped groove/profile designed to create a self-centering effect—so the ski tracks straighter, feels more stable, and supports classic technique better on asphalt.
How does V-Track improve stability compared to flat wheels?
Flat wheels allow lateral drift, forcing constant balance corrections. V-Track creates an “invisible ski track” on asphalt that guides the ski forward and reduces wobble—so you focus on technique, not fighting the equipment.
Is V-Track designed for classic or skate?
V-Track is engineered specifically for classic diagonal stride, where stability in kick-and-glide is critical for real technique transfer to snow.
Do V-Track wheels fit other rollerski brands (IDT, Swenor, Swix, Fischer, Marwe)?
Yes—your V-Track wheel products are positioned as a universal upgrade that fits most makers and models, including many major brands (as listed on your product pages). If a customer is unsure, they should check axle/spacer setup or contact you before ordering.
Why do some V-Track wheels use softer rubber?
Softer rubber can act like built-in dampening on skis that don’t have suspension in the frame—reducing road buzz and improving comfort and control on rough asphalt.
What’s the difference between V-Track wheels like V Active vs V Pro?
On your site, V Pro wheels are described as firmer rubber with bigger rims, while V Active wheels are positioned as slightly softer for more vibration damping—especially useful on “ordinary” rigid rollerskis.
Do V-Track wheels help in corners and descents?
Yes. Your V-Track content highlights improved control and confidence in turns and downhills through the V-profile design (and “shaved edges” mentioned on your V-Track article and V Pro pages).
Will the V-groove wear out and stop working?
No—the V-shape is molded into the wheel profile and is designed to keep the same tracking logic through the wheel’s usable lifespan. (Replace when rubber is worn down like any normal rollerski wheel.)
Can I choose different rolling resistance with V-Track wheels?
Yes. Your V Pro wheel products offer Speed #2 (medium) and Speed #3 (slow) options so skiers can match rolling resistance to skill level and training goals.
What comes in the box?
It depends on the package:
2-pack = two wheels (front or rear) and mounting hardware on relevant products
4-pack = full set (two front + two rear) and mounting screws (use existing washers where noted)
Any installation tips for best safety?
Use Loctite on mounting screws and allow it time to set before training. This improves safety and durability.
Are V-Track wheels made in Norway?
Your V-Track technology article states the wheels are developed in Norway, produced in Sweden and tested on Nordic asphalt.
